President Xi Jinping Praises China’s Resilience and Progress in the Year of the Dragon

At a high-level reception in Beijing on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the nation's solid progress over the past year, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations. The event, hosted by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, marked the upcoming transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" President Xi said, emphasizing the resilience and determination of the Chinese people. As the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi highlighted China's ability to navigate difficulties with composure and implement comprehensive measures to overcome challenges.

\"Faced with complex and challenging situations, we responded with composure, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" Xi stated. He acknowledged the collective efforts that enabled China to make significant strides in advancing Chinese modernization.

The reception, attended by over 2,000 people, served as an occasion for Xi to extend Spring Festival greetings to people of all ethnic groups across China, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies while proactively introducing new measures to stimulate economic recovery. \"Over the past year, we effectively implemented existing policies and introduced a package of incremental policies, which helped promote the recovery of the economy,\" he remarked.

President Xi also highlighted remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation. \"New quality productive forces are forging ahead steadily,\" he said, noting that employment and consumer prices remained stable, contributing to the nation's overall economic resilience.

As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi called for continued efforts to advance Chinese modernization and to build upon the solid foundations laid in the past year. \"Let us embrace the opportunities of the new year with the same vitality and determination,\" he encouraged.
