Chinese President Xi Jinping has hailed China's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi emphasized the country's resilience and vitality in the Year of the Dragon.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcoming difficulties and forging ahead with determination, Xi noted at the reception attended by over 2,000 people.
The event, held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, saw Xi extend Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.
Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, which helped promote economic recovery, Xi said.
Highlighting remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, Xi noted that new quality productive forces have been steadily advancing. He also emphasized that China's employment and consumer prices have remained stable over the past year.
Looking ahead, Xi called for continued efforts to advance Chinese modernization and encouraged the nation to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the coming year with unity and determination.
