Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday praised the solid progress China has made in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the nation's resilience and determination during the Year of the Dragon.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Addressing an audience of over 2,000 people at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Xi emphasized China's composed response to challenges. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he stated.
Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. The Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, marks a new chapter for the nation.
Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies to promote economic recovery, Xi noted. The country achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces steadily advancing. Employment and consumer prices also remained stable, reflecting the nation's economic resilience.
As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi's remarks underscore a commitment to continuing progress and overcoming challenges through unity and perseverance.
