President Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Progress Amid Challenges in Year of Dragon

At a high-level reception to usher in the Chinese New Year, President Xi Jinping on Monday hailed China's solid progress over the past year despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations. Speaking to over 2,000 attendees, Xi highlighted the nation's resilience and determination in advancing Chinese modernization.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said, emphasizing the country's ability to overcome obstacles and achieve growth. The reception, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, marked the beginning of the Year of the Snake, which starts on January 29.

Xi extended warm Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. He acknowledged their contributions and expressed hope for continued unity and prosperity.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures to promote economic recovery. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he stated, underscoring the government's commitment to progress amid global uncertainties.

The president highlighted remarkable advancements in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces steadily emerging. He also pointed out that China's employment and consumer prices remained stable, contributing to overall economic stability.

As the nation steps into the new lunar year, Xi called for continued perseverance and collective effort to achieve greater milestones. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure,\" he remarked, urging everyone to maintain confidence and work together towards a brighter future.
