Chinese President Xi Jinping praised China's significant progress over the past year despite facing \"complex and challenging\" circumstances. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to usher in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the nation's resilience and determination.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said at the event attended by over 2,000 people. The reception, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, marked the approaching Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.
Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China's composed response to challenges. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" he noted.
At the reception, Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.
Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, which helped promote economic recovery, Xi said. He highlighted remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, stating that new productive forces are advancing steadily. China's employment and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the nation's steady growth.
