Chinese President Xi Jinping Lauds Nation’s Progress Amid Challenges in Year of the Dragon

At a high-level reception in Beijing on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the nation's remarkable progress over the past year, highlighting the resilience and determination of the Chinese people in the Year of the Dragon.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Despite facing complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure, implementing a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" Xi remarked at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, beginning on January 29.

The event, attended by over 2,000 people, saw Xi extending Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, which helped promote the recovery of the economy. Xi highlighted the nation's achievements in technological and industrial innovation, noting that new quality productive forces are steadily advancing. \"China's employment and consumer prices also remained stable,\" he added.

As the nation looks forward to the Year of the Snake, Xi called on the Chinese people to continue embracing unity and perseverance. \"Faced with challenges, we must remain steadfast in our goals and work together to build a brighter future,\" he urged.
