Cai Xuetong Sets Sights on Gold at 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin

Chinese snowboarder Cai Xuetong is set to participate in the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games, scheduled to begin in February in her hometown of Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. In an interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Mike Fox, she shared her goal: to top the podium in front of her home crowd.

Cai made her Winter Olympic debut in Vancouver, Canada, in 2010, competing in the women's halfpipe event as the youngest athlete in the competition. She has continued to improve over the years, securing the halfpipe gold medal at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria. Four years later, she earned a silver medal at the championships in Utah.

At the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, Cai achieved her best performance at the event with a silver medal. As one of the 170 athletes representing China at the competition, she is determined to claim the title this time.

Cai's ambition to win gold at home is a significant motivator. The support of the home crowd in Harbin could give her the edge she needs to reach the top spot on the podium.
