Olympic Champion Qi Guangpu Wins Gold at FIS Aerial World Cup

In a stunning display of skill and perseverance, Olympic champion Qi Guangpu of China clinched the men's gold medal at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Aerial World Cup in Lac-Beauport, Canada, on Saturday.

The competition saw five Chinese athletes advance to the men's final, but it was Qi and his compatriot Li Xinpeng who made it through to the second round. Despite challenging conditions, Qi outperformed his rivals, earning an impressive score of 124.00 points to secure the top spot on the podium.

\"So I just keep working and keep working,\" the 34-year-old veteran expressed with joy. \"This year I came back here and got the gold medal. I am very happy.\"

Home favorite Lewis Irving claimed the silver medal with 102.50 points, followed by Christopher Lillis of the United States, who earned 85.40 points to take bronze.

In the women's final, 35-year-old Laura Peel of Australia captured the title with a score of 117.19 points, marking her first World Cup victory since March 2023 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

China's Chen Meiting secured second place with 102.31 points, while reigning Olympic champion Xu Mengtao of China earned the bronze with 92.72 points.

The aerialists are set to return for a final day of individual events on Sunday, promising more thrilling performances.
