Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command on Friday ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During his visit, President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to the service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
On Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He also communicated with representatives of troops across the military via video link. The troops briefed him on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status.
President Xi praised their efforts and fully acknowledged their work. He emphasized the importance of bolstering combat readiness duties to effectively respond to any emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the holiday period.
