As the Spring Festival approaches, Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command, extending festive greetings to all servicemen and women.
President Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), conveyed his wishes on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During his visit, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. Connecting via video link, he also spoke with representatives from various troops across the military. Officers and soldiers briefed him on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status, to which Xi offered his full acknowledgment and support.
Emphasizing the importance of vigilance during the festive season, President Xi urged the troops to bolster the enforcement of their combat readiness duties. \"Effectively respond to any emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the holidays,\" he encouraged.
