President Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Military Personnel

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command on Friday, ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. During his visit, President Xi extended festive greetings to all service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian staff in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Central Military Commission (CMC).

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. As the nation prepares for this significant cultural celebration, President Xi's visit underscores the importance of military readiness and national security during the holiday period.

On Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command and later spoke via video link to representatives of troops across the military. The service personnel briefed him on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status. President Xi acknowledged their efforts and commended their dedication.

Emphasizing the significance of maintaining vigilance, President Xi urged the troops to bolster the enforcement of their combat readiness duties. He highlighted the need to effectively respond to any emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the holidays.

President Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CMC, has consistently stressed the importance of a strong military capable of protecting the nation's sovereignty and interests. His visit and message serve to inspire confidence and dedication among the armed forces as they continue their duties during the festive season.
