Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command ahead of the Spring Festival on Friday.
President Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During his visit on Friday morning, Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. Following the meeting, he spoke via video link to representatives of troops across the military.
The officers and soldiers briefed President Xi on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status. Xi fully acknowledged their efforts and contributions.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering combat readiness duties to effectively respond to any emergencies. Xi urged the troops to safeguard national security and maintain social stability during the holiday season.
