President Xi Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Troops During Northern Theater Command Visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday visited the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
President Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to all service personnel of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, and members of militia and reserve forces. He conveyed his wishes on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During his visit on Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He also communicated via video link with representatives of troops across the military.
In the discussions, officers and soldiers provided updates on their combat readiness duties and the execution of missions. President Xi acknowledged their efforts and accomplishments.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing combat readiness to effectively respond to emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the festive period.
