Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday visited the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to all service personnel of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, as well as members of the militia and reserve forces. He conveyed these greetings on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During his visit on Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He also connected via video link with representatives from various troops across the military.
In these interactions, officers and soldiers reported to Xi on their combat readiness duties and the status of their mission executions. President Xi acknowledged their efforts and commended their dedication.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering the enforcement of combat readiness duties to effectively respond to any emergencies. He urged the troops to safeguard national security and maintain social stability during the holiday season.
