On Friday, ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command, extending festive greetings to military personnel across the nation.
President Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), met with officers and soldiers of the Northern Theater Command on Friday morning. He later spoke via video link to representatives of troops across the military.
During his visit, Xi extended greetings on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC to service personnel of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year and is a significant traditional holiday marked by family reunions and celebrations.
