On Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Northern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) ahead of the Spring Festival, extending heartfelt greetings to all service personnel.
President Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), conveyed festive wishes on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC to members of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, as well as militia and reserve forces.
The Spring Festival, marking the Lunar New Year and China's most significant traditional holiday, falls on January 29 this year.
During the visit, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the Northern Theater Command and connected with representatives of troops across the military via video link. The troops briefed Xi on their combat readiness and mission execution, to which he expressed full acknowledgment and appreciation.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining high levels of vigilance and readiness, urging the troops to effectively respond to any emergencies that may arise during the holiday period. \"Safeguarding national security and social stability is a paramount duty,\" Xi stated, encouraging the forces to bolster their mission capabilities.
