President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has embarked on an inspection tour of northeast China's Liaoning Province ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
On Thursday, Xi visited a cold rolling mill of Bensteel Group in Benxi City. During the visit, he emphasized the significance of the steel industry as a crucial foundational sector for the country. He underscored that the real economy serves as the backbone of the national economy.
Earlier in the day, Xi stopped by a food market in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to assess the market's supplies during the holiday season.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is one of the most important festivals in China, a time when families reunite and celebrate the beginning of a new year according to the lunar calendar.
Xi's visit to Liaoning Province reflects the government's focus on bolstering key industries and ensuring adequate supply of essential goods during the festive season, aligning with efforts to strengthen the economy and improve people's livelihoods.
