President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made a significant visit to northeast China's Liaoning Province ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, one of the most important traditional festivals in China.
On Thursday, President Xi visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi City. During his visit, he emphasized the vital role of the steel industry as a foundational sector for the country. He highlighted that the real economy is the cornerstone of China’s national economy, underscoring the importance of strengthening industrial capabilities and innovation.
Earlier in the day, President Xi toured a local food market in Shenyang, the capital city of Liaoning Province. He interacted with vendors and shoppers to assess the market’s supply and preparations for the holiday season. The president expressed his concern for ensuring ample supply and stable prices of essential goods during the Spring Festival, which is a peak time for consumer demand.
President Xi’s visit to Liaoning comes as part of his broader efforts to inspect and guide economic and social development across various regions of China. His engagements in Liaoning reflect the central government’s focus on revitalizing the northeastern region’s economy and ensuring the well-being of its people during the festive season.
