Xi Jinping Visits Shenyang Ahead of Spring Festival

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, visited Shenyang, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, on Thursday ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.

During his visit, Xi toured a food market and a residential community, engaging with local residents and vendors. He learned about the supply of goods during the holiday season and assessed measures implemented to meet residents' daily needs and enhance public services. Xi also inquired about the progress made in improving people's livelihoods in the area.

For more than a decade, Xi, as the top leader of the Party and the state, has made it a tradition to spend time with ordinary people ahead of the Spring Festival. This custom reflects his commitment to staying connected with citizens and understanding their concerns firsthand.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the most significant festival in China, marked by family reunions, cultural activities, and widespread travel. Xi's visit underscores the importance of ensuring that essential goods and services are readily available during this peak period.

Local authorities in Shenyang have taken various steps to ensure a steady supply of food and other necessities, aiming to provide a comfortable and joyous festival experience for all residents.
