Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited Zhujiagou Village in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, on Wednesday, ahead of the Spring Festival. Braving the cold, Xi met with villagers affected by the severe floods of summer 2024 to inspect the progress of post-disaster reconstruction.
\"Huludao suffered severe flooding last year. I have been concerned about you and came to see you before the Spring Festival,\" Xi told the villagers. \"What I've seen today makes me feel relieved.\"
Expressing solidarity with those affected by natural disasters across the country in the past year, Xi emphasized the government's commitment to assisting in recovery efforts. \"We have always put the people first,\" he said. \"The people can always count on the Party and the government in their most difficult times, and we will help them overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.\"
The visit comes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, the most significant holiday in China, which falls on January 29 this year. Xi's visit underscores the government's focus on ensuring that affected communities can recover and participate fully in the festivities.
Xi expressed confidence in the restoration and reconstruction efforts, stating his belief that the affected areas would see positive results. His visit provided encouragement and reassurance to the residents of Zhujiagou Village as they continue to rebuild their lives.
