The Central Meteorological Observatory of China has announced that the first cold wave of 2025 is set to sweep across most parts of the country starting Thursday. This significant weather event is expected to bring widespread snowfall, rainfall, strong winds, and a substantial drop in temperatures.
Xu Jun, the chief forecaster at the Central Meteorological Observatory, highlighted the severity of the upcoming cold spell. \"We're anticipating dramatic temperature changes and strong winds that will affect a vast region,\" Xu stated during a press briefing.
According to Xu, temperatures across most of the country are expected to plummet by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius. In certain areas of northwestern and northern China, the mercury could drop by more than 14 degrees Celsius, marking one of the most significant temperature declines in recent years.
