CMG Perfects 2025 Spring Festival Gala in Fourth Rehearsal Ahead of Lunar New Year

The China Media Group (CMG) held its fourth rehearsal for the much-anticipated 2025 Spring Festival Gala on Wednesday, further perfecting the grand show set to air on the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Featuring a blend of singing, dancing, and traditional operas, the rehearsal showcased the performers' full preparation and outstanding talent. The gala's organization has been meticulously refined, with smoother coordination enhancing the overall flow. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with joy and laughter, capturing the festive spirit of the Spring Festival.

Among the highlights was a song performed by grassroots workers that celebrated the endeavors of Chinese modernization. A heartwarming song accompanied by touching visual effects moved the audience, while renowned artists and young apprentices presented traditional Chinese operas, bridging generations through culture.

In addition to the main venue in Beijing, the gala will connect with four sub-venues across the country: Chongqing Municipality, Wuhan City in Hubei Province, Lhasa City in the Xizang Autonomous Region, and Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province, highlighting the diverse regional cultures of China.

Known as "Chunwan" in Chinese, the Spring Festival Gala has been broadcast live annually since 1983 and is regarded as a major cultural symbol for traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. This year's gala, airing on January 28, will be the first since the Spring Festival was successfully included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

As the final touches are added to the gala, audiences both in China and around the world eagerly await a night of spectacular performances that celebrate heritage, unity, and the joyous spirit of the Lunar New Year.
