Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a video meeting on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of a stable and resilient relationship between China and Russia to address uncertainties in the global environment.
\"A stable and resilient China-Russia relationship will help address uncertainties in the external world,\" President Xi said during the meeting. He expressed readiness to work with President Putin in 2025 to further elevate China-Russia relations, promote development and revitalization in both countries, and uphold international fairness and justice.
President Xi highlighted the need for both countries to deepen strategic cooperation, strengthen mutual support, and safeguard their legitimate interests. He called for consolidating and expanding bilateral relations and promoting the in-depth development of practical cooperation.
President Putin, in his remarks, noted the mutual trust and equal treatment that have characterized China-Russia relations. \"Russia and China have always trusted and supported each other and treated each other as equals,\" he said.
He emphasized that cooperation between the two nations serves the interests of their peoples and will remain unaffected by changes in the international situation. \"Cooperation between our countries will never be impacted by changes in the international situation,\" President Putin added.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to maintain strategic communication in the coming year.
