Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks via video meeting on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of a stable and resilient relationship between China and Russia in addressing uncertainties in the external world.
President Xi expressed readiness to work with President Putin to continue guiding China-Russia relations towards greater heights by 2025. He noted that the stability and resilience of China-Russia relations would help cope with external uncertainties, jointly promote development and revitalization of both countries, and uphold international fairness and justice.
Xi called for the two sides to deepen strategic cooperation, strengthen mutual support, and safeguard their legitimate interests. He also urged the consolidation and expansion of bilateral relations and the promotion of in-depth practical cooperation.
President Putin acknowledged the mutual trust and support between Russia and China, stating that both countries have always treated each other as equals. He emphasized that cooperation between the two sides serves the interests of their peoples and will not be impacted by changes in the international situation.
During the video meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to maintain strategic communication throughout the year.
