Xi Jinping Urges Unity and Collaboration Ahead of Spring Festival

In a festive gathering at Beijing's Great Hall of the People, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. Xi, who is also the President of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, used the occasion to emphasize the nation's commitment to proactive and impactful macro policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

Addressing the assembled non-CPC personages, Xi called upon them to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overarching interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.

Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) within the current year, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reform, promoting high-quality growth, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

The protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem was also a focal point, with Xi stressing the need to address critical and challenging problems in its supervision. He highlighted the role of the ACFIC in guiding the private sector to maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolster confidence in development, and establish modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

As China prepares to welcome the Lunar New Year, Xi's messages underline a call for unity and concerted efforts across all sectors to achieve the nation's ambitious goals.
