Xi Jinping Leads CPC Leadership Meeting to Drive High-Quality Development
President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a crucial meeting on Monday with the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The meeting focused on reviewing significant reports and opinions aimed at advancing China's high-quality development and ecological protection initiatives.
During the session, the committee reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after it had discussed the work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.
The meeting fully recognized the efforts and achievements of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the importance of results, the meeting called upon these groups to prioritize effective action, unite efforts to push forward reforms, and contribute to the advancement of high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.
The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the discussion on ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Recognizing the Yellow River's critical role in China's ecological and economic landscape, the meeting called for promoting the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.
Specific measures were outlined to systematically enhance water source conservation in the river's upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. The meeting also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of dams, reservoirs, and key infrastructure along the river.
Furthermore, the committee emphasized the need to align the Yellow River's high-quality development with broader national strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. There was a call to improve holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and to promote the integration of culture and tourism development in the Yellow River Basin.
This meeting underscores the CPC's commitment to driving forward China's development goals while ensuring ecological sustainability and cultural preservation.
