Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Urges Unity and Development

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During an annual gathering held on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's advancement.

Underscoring the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi noted that success in these goals would lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
