Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. In his address, Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation.
Emphasizing the nation's development goals, Xi outlined plans for implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain healthy social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Underscoring the importance of the nation's strategic planning, Xi stressed the need to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and to lay a solid foundation for the next phase of development. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi emphasized the necessity to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He highlighted the role of sustainable practices in the nation's long-term growth.
Xi also encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He called for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
The gathering underscores the central government's commitment to inclusivity and collaboration with various sectors of society as China embarks on a new year of opportunities and challenges.
