In a gesture highlighting unity and collaboration, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC personages during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Addressing members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front, Xi emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving national goals. He underscored China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic progress in 2025.
\"Together, we must focus on our central tasks and serve the country's overall interests,\" Xi remarked. He called upon the non-CPC political parties and affiliated organizations to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength in pursuit of common objectives.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi urged all parties to achieve the set targets and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the protection and supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource, emphasizing its importance to the nation's environmental sustainability and long-term development.
Furthermore, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He highlighted the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, aiming to foster a dynamic and resilient private sector that contributes significantly to the nation's growth.
The annual Spring Festival gathering serves as a platform for China's top leadership to engage with non-CPC entities, reinforcing the spirit of unity and shared purpose. This year's event underscores the government's focus on collaboration and inclusiveness in driving forward the country's ambitious development agenda.
