On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
Speaking at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing during an annual gathering, Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes in anticipation of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025. Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to the comprehensive deepening of reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging issues in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of preserving this vital waterway for sustainable development.
Xi also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering reflects China's emphasis on unity and collaboration across different sectors and political affiliations, as the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival and embark on a new phase of development.
