Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival. The greetings were conveyed during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.
Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, expressed his warm wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized the implementation of more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underlined the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Xi highlighted the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection.
He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
