Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to members of non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members ahead of the Spring Festival. The gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Addressing the attendees, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
The president underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, and promote high-quality development. Xi also urged them to formulate proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Highlighting environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for concerted efforts to safeguard the river's ecological well-being.
Regarding the private sector, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in maintaining their enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of bolstering confidence in development and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
