Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Non-CPC Personages

On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings ahead of the Spring Festival to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes during the annual gathering with non-CPC personages at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. This year, the Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29.

During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks, serve the country's overarching interests, and utilize their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to preserve the ecological well-being of this vital waterway.

Regarding economic development, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
