Beijing, January 25—Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
On Monday, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes during the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized the importance of implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025. He highlighted the need to focus on high-quality development and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
\"We must achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi stated. He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Xi also expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He encouraged them to actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He underlined the significance of preserving the ecological environment while pursuing economic growth.
Regarding the private sector, Xi urged the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering was attended by leaders from various non-CPC political parties, representatives of the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation. The event showcased the unity and cooperation among different political and social groups in China, reflecting the nation's collective effort toward achieving development goals.
