On Monday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, representatives of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and individuals without party affiliation during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized the implementation of more proactive and effective macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on achieving high-quality development and enhancing self-reliance in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and individuals without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the overall interests of the country, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi urged them to build consensus, gather wisdom, and mobilize support to contribute to national development.
Xi stressed the importance of achieving the objectives set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), laying a robust foundation for the next five-year period.
Looking ahead, he expressed hope that non-CPC personages would actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reforms, promoting high-quality development, and offering valuable proposals for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
He underscored the necessity of addressing critical challenges in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem.
Furthermore, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in sustaining entrepreneurial enthusiasm, boosting confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
