Chinese President Xi Jinping extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. The event brought together members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation, celebrating unity ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Addressing the attendees, Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain China's high-quality development in 2025. He highlighted the need for greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology, urging efforts to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and to lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years.
\"We must focus on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests,\" Xi said. \"I call on all of you to leverage your unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for our nation's development.\"
Xi Jinping encouraged non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to actively contribute to the comprehensive deepening of reform and the promotion of high-quality development. He stressed the significance of formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), inviting input and insights to shape the nation's future direction.
Highlighting environmental concerns, Xi underscored the necessity of addressing critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He called for concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource.
Speaking to the ACFIC, Xi urged guidance for the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. \"We should establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features,\" he noted, emphasizing the role of private enterprises in China's economic landscape.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. As the nation prepares to celebrate, Xi's greetings and directives set a tone of unity and collaborative progress for the year ahead.
