Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his warm wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year. The event brought together representatives from various sectors to strengthen unity and collaboration for the country's development.
In his address, Xi emphasized the implementation of more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic advancement in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged leveraging their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve shared goals.
Underscoring the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of meeting the targets set for 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensive reform, promote high-quality development, and play an active role in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He urged concerted efforts to preserve the ecological well-being of this vital waterway.
Xi also underscored the role of the ACFIC in guiding the private sector. He encouraged the federation to help entrepreneurs maintain their enthusiasm, bolster confidence in development, and establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering reflected the Chinese leadership's commitment to unity and inclusive development, harnessing the collective efforts of all sectors to achieve the nation's goals.
