In a gesture of unity ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals. Addressing the non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation, Xi urged them to concentrate on the central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He called on them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
Xi highlighted the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Emphasizing environmental protection, Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He highlighted the importance of ecological conservation in the nation's sustainable development strategy.
Regarding the private sector, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide entrepreneurs in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
