In a festive gathering at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended heartfelt Spring Festival greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members.
With the Chinese Lunar New Year approaching on January 29, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in his address. He called for concerted efforts to implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development and enhancing self-reliance in science and technology to sustain China’s social and economic growth in 2025.
“We must rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan,” Xi urged. He highlighted the crucial role of non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation in serving the nation’s overall interests and leveraging their unique strengths to tackle challenges.
Looking ahead, Xi underscored the necessity of laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality growth, and participate in formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Environmental protection was also a focal point, with Xi stressing the need to address critical and challenging issues in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. “We must resolve key problems to ensure sustainable development along the Yangtze,” he stated.
Addressing the private sector, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide entrepreneurs in maintaining their enthusiasm, bolstering confidence, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features. “The private sector plays a vital role in our economy, and we must support its growth and innovation,” he noted.
As China prepares to usher in the Spring Festival, Xi’s messages of unity, development, and progress resonate with the nation’s goals for the coming year. The gathering reflects a commitment to collaboration across different sectors and political affiliations, aiming to build a stronger, more prosperous China.
