Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC personages ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. The event took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where Xi addressed members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes during the annual gathering. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
In his speech, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology. These efforts aim to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.
The Chinese leader called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for national development.
Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged a concerted effort to safeguard this vital natural resource.
Speaking about the private sector, Xi highlighted the role of the ACFIC in guiding entrepreneurs. He encouraged the organization to help maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolster confidence in development, and establish modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
