President Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and Progress

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival. The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. During the event, President Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving national development goals.

Focus on High-Quality Development

In his address, Xi Jinping highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underscored the need to focus on high-quality development and to promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology. These efforts are aimed at sustaining sound social and economic development in 2025 and beyond.

\"Achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) is crucial,\" Xi stated. \"We must lay a solid foundation for the next five years.\"

Mobilizing All Positive Forces

President Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

He expressed hope that these groups would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. \"Actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030),\" Xi encouraged.

Protecting the Yangtze River Ecosystem

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi Jinping stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of ecological conservation in China's development agenda.

Supporting the Private Sector

The President also emphasized the role of the private sector in China's economy. He called on the ACFIC to guide private businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
