Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Emphasizes Unity and Development Goals

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

At the event, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals. He called for more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development and advancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi urged non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks, serve the nation's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength. He highlighted the significance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years.

The president expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). He also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the protection and supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem.

Furthermore, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features. He underscored the private sector's vital role in China's economic landscape and the importance of its continued growth and innovation.
