Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity Towards 2025 Goals

In a gesture marking the upcoming Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

In his address, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic growth in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the nation’s overarching interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Highlighting the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the necessity of laying a solid foundation for the next phase of development over the subsequent five years.

Xi also expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

He stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem.

Furthermore, Xi urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

The gathering reflects China’s emphasis on unity and collaboration among various political parties and sectors to achieve national development goals and promote prosperity during the new lunar year.
