Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and Progress in 2025

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended heartfelt Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

Addressing the assembly, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks of the nation, serve the country's overarching interests, and leverage their unique strengths. He encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to contribute to the nation's development goals.

The Chinese leader underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Highlighting environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He urged concerted efforts to safeguard the ecological well-being of this vital waterway.

Xi also pointed out the significant role of the private sector in China's economy. He called on the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in maintaining their entrepreneurial enthusiasm, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.

As the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, Xi's address reflects a commitment to unity, collaboration, and forward momentum, urging all sectors of society to contribute to China's continued growth and prosperity.
