Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all political parties and organizations to achieve the nation’s development goals. He called for the implementation of more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, a focus on high-quality development, and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
“We must harness the unique strengths of all sectors to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,” Xi said, urging non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to focus on central tasks and serve the country’s overall interests.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to achieve the targets set for 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The annual gathering serves as an important platform for fostering unity and collaboration among China’s diverse political and social organizations. Xi’s remarks set the tone for continued cooperation and shared efforts toward the nation’s future development.
