Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and Development

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC personages during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. As the nation prepares to welcome the new year, Xi's meeting with members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front highlighted a call for unity and collaborative development.

In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underscored the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology. These efforts aim to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's progress.

Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of achieving its targets by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi emphasized the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for concerted efforts to preserve this vital natural resource.

Regarding economic growth, Xi noted that the ACFIC should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features to enhance the country's economic vitality.

As China ushers in the Lunar New Year, Xi's messages of unity and collaboration resonate with a nation poised for continued growth and development. His call to action serves as a reminder of the collective effort required to achieve the country's ambitious goals.
