Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his well-wishes as the country prepares to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration, Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic growth in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve the nation's goals.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to achieve its targets by 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the necessity of tackling critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He also encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The event reflects China's ongoing efforts to foster unity and collaboration among various political and social groups, aiming to achieve sustainable development and contribute to the nation's long-term prosperity.
