BEIJING — Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
During an annual gathering held on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Highlighting the importance of unity and collaboration, Xi emphasized that China will implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in the coming year. He underscored the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
\"We must achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Xi encouraged these groups to mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He highlighted the importance of sustainable practices to preserve vital natural resources.
Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, aiming to foster a vibrant and resilient economy.
The gathering concluded with a shared commitment to unity and progress as China approaches the Spring Festival, a time of reflection and renewal. Xi's remarks set the tone for collaborative efforts to achieve the nation's goals in the years ahead.
