On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
At the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. He urged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve common goals.
Underscoring the importance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to meet the targets set for 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the critical need to tackle challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for concerted efforts to preserve the environment and ensure sustainable development along this vital waterway.
Speaking to the ACFIC, Xi encouraged guiding the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a robust and vibrant economy.
As China ushers in the new lunar year, Xi's message reflects a vision of unity, innovation, and shared progress, inviting all sectors of society to contribute to the nation's future development.
