Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and Development
As the Spring Festival approaches, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. The annual gathering was held on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in his address. He highlighted that 2025 will be a pivotal year for China, aiming to implement proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
\"We must work together to sustain sound social and economic development,\" Xi stated. He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and individuals without party affiliation to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's progress.
Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He encouraged contributions toward deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for heightened efforts to preserve the environment while pursuing economic growth.
Regarding the private sector, Xi urged the ACFIC to guide entrepreneurs in maintaining enthusiasm and confidence. He advocated for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a robust and innovative business environment.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. Xi's greetings and directives set a hopeful tone for the festivities, emphasizing unity and collective effort toward national goals.
